Something new

I've been using this site only for my artwork, but I'd like to try something new and post a video that has nothing to do with my art :) It's so cute I had to put this up! (It was at a state fair in North Carolina, and it's not my voice that you're hearing!)

Sketches (mainly animals)

These are some sketches I've done just recently. All of them, except for my friend, are drawn from photo references. I really enjoy drawing animals.

Sleep Paralysis

This is an illustration of "Kanashibari", sleeping paralysis. I used to have it almost every other night when I was younger, and this is based on my own experience.

I'm going to put some of my rough sketches/ideas of the project that I'll be working on.

These are the sketches I did for the project to illustrate "communication". I decided to go with the mice having a class (this idea was based on my own experience) and it'll be in full color.


The last one is just a sketch I did in Soho.

Brooklyn Bridge

I very much enjoy creating/drawing for someone I care about, and this is something I made for my parents. I hope they will like it :)

About 2 years ago, I had an opportunity to work as a greeting card designer. These are some of the samples of my cards.

Rock Stars

These are illustrations of John Lennon and Stevie Wonder. I originally painted these with acrylics, but I wanted to give them more graphic look, so I redid them using Illustrator.

Memoirs of a Geisha II

This is my second book cover for the "Memoirs of a Geisha". I wanted to make the umbrella fade into the background, in which I wasn't very successful.. I know it looks a little weird, and it could've been better, but I'm happy with the figure. Unlike the first one I did (posted underneath), this time I worked with Photoshop just to start off and used the Corel Painter for the most part.

Fantasy Oil Painting

This is my second oil painting that I did over the past few months. I wanted to create a peaceful, fantasy atmosphere. I had a struggle with the texture of the elephant in particular, and it could've been worked on more, but overall, I'm happy with how it came out.

Conceptual Illustration

The theme is "the difference between what we assume to to be true and the reality of what is true". I wanted to show how people can be superficial, as if they are wearing a mask.

Storyboard

This is a storyboard from one of my favorite movies "Fight Club" It was my first time to make a storyboard and although it was more time-consuming than I thought (you can tell by the posting time -it's already 5:30 in the morning! Birds are chirping outside...), I enjoyed the creating process.

The Beatles

These are illustrations inspired by the songs called "Blackbird" "Strawberry Fields Forever" "I'm Only Sleeping" by The Beatles. I wanted to make them look simple using only lines and dots.

More daily sketches from the subways except for the elephant (obviously). There's something about elephants, their eyes in particular, that makes me feel ...gentle.

This is a scene from "Of Mice And Men" It was supposed to look like a serious graphic novel, but it came out pretty cartoony...!
